About

Community

The women interviewed highlighted the importance of community as a vital life support for both finding a safe space within their new host country and the ability to keep cultural traditions alive. Whether community is based on the common denominator of country of origin or through making new friends at educational centres such as FSWC, community serves to help others learn about traditional and cultural values in order to create a more diverse space that is accepting of different cultures. It also acts as a safe place for women to come together and is essential to their growth and to combat loneliness.
